Artist Statement
_ Everyone needs to have something that they are good at, because it creates a goal to reach for. Art is a good talent, because to create something, especially something some else will like, is something to be proud of. Art can convey ideas and emotions, and inspire someone with just a glance. To be able to create a window to another world--in any medium, of any size--is a wonderful thing, and a great responsibility.
I have enjoyed being able to partake in this creative endeavor for years. From high school to college to post-college, my interest has shifted from medium to medium, dabbling here and there, as evidenced by my portfolio here. It's a journey to find the things I most enjoy doing.
The natural world has been a consistently influential subject matter for me. It is intriguing, beautiful, scary, and really strange--stranger than fiction, often. Flowers and animals are favorites. Organic forms make for nice designs. I really admire God as the Creator, and although my work pales indescribably in comparison, it's my way of showing my admiration and fascination with what He has made.

Artist Biography
Breanna Whittemore had begun doing artwork in high school; some drawings and mainly digital art, the latter of which were sometimes 3D renders. After a while in college, she finally got overwhelmed and bored working with 3D render programs, and as she was working on projects in her basic classes, realized she'd like trying more traditional arts. She then graduated with a BFA in Ceramics from Arizona State University.
In college, she took introductory design, digital media, drawing classes, and a wood class, as well as basic to advanced ceramics classes, as well as many art history subjects. She has had some of her work displayed around the Arizona State University Art building. A group BFA exhibition, Close Proximity, in Fall of 2011, had one of her pieces photographed for The State Press' "Up Close and Personal" article. She has since her graduation in 2011 being periodically working in a variety of mediums to stay interested and to find multiple ways to create things.
The natural world has been consistent subject matter in her work. She generally likes watercolor, sketchy, and sumi-e styles. Sometimes it's just the simple idea that someone will think her artwork is interesting or beautiful that means just as much, if not more, than any meaning behind it, thus most of her work isn't conceptual in nature.
Currently she's been practicing her art skills more as she goes to her pastor's house to paint with his wife and others usually once a week, which has become a pleasant, peaceful time for her. She has also been currently teaching herself how to do pixel art while at home.
